Balmar 30-SR12-02 External Regulator Conversion Kit 30-SR12-02 for Valeo 120A/12V Alternators

Balmar 30-SR12-02 Internal Smart Ready® Regulator Conversion Kit for Valeo 120A/12V Alternators found on recent production Yanmar Engines.  This requires either an ARS5-H or MC-214-H regulator sold separately. This Kit includes only the Smart Ready® Conversion for the Valeo 12V Alternator. The Balmar conversion kit works with these two Valeo alternators: 128990-77250 (12 volt) and 129677-77250 (24 volt).  For complete Charging Kits which also include Balmar Multi-Stage Regulators see sidebar

 

 Installation is a snap and can even be done with the alternator in place if enough clearance is available.  Disconnect power to the engine before you start.  Remove the back cover from the alternator. Remove the existing internal regulator by unscrewing three screws. Replace it with the new one using the same three screws.  Remove the brush retainer and replace it with the new brush cover.   Put back the new back cover using the original two screws.

Tech Tip This is an easy modification to the original alternator that permits it to have the external regulation required for advanced battery systems and charging. The modification can even be done with the alternator in place if enough room is available.  External regulator sold separately. We recommend the use of alternator and battery temperature sensors for all advanced charging systems.
