This compact meter monitors DC Amps on a bright, waterproof, daylight readable OLED screen. Its compact size enables mounting in any convenient location. This could easily fit on the dashboard of any center console or open boat, in the dashboard of a car, beside the captains bunk, in the engine room, on the engine control panel, or anywhere you want a bright, easy to read, compact, accurate Ammeter. The meter uses an external shunt which is included. The maximum continuous current allowed in 100 Amps with a cranking rating (30 Seconds) of 175 Amps. The shunt can be place in the positive or negative side of the circuit.

Tech Tip

The shunt has 1/4" terminals and so isn't really suitable for large battery cables.
The display is not really bright enough to be easily readable in bright sunlight.

A: The shunt is separate from the meter, it is a 100A/50mV shunt and gets wired to the meter with a twisted pair wire (not-included) to avoid picking up interference along the way. There is no specific length stated for the length of this wire but extreme lengths would presumably result in a loss of accuracy. The shunt is also sold separately as p/n 9230. If you go to the Blue Sea web page for the shunt you will see this message: "For continuous operation, it is recommended that shunts not to be run at more than two-thirds (66%) the rated current under normal conditions

Q: Can this mini ammeter be used with an inboard engine ?

A: Yes but not on the starting circuit. The current limit for the meter and the shunt is 100 Amps and the shunt has 1/4" studs so isn't really suitable for big battery cables. This ammeter would normally be used to read the loads going through the main breaker panel only. Most panels are rated for 100 Amps max.

Yes the shunt is required to do anything. Is is included with the meter.

A: I don't personally think these are suitable for a location where there will be sun on them because it makes it too hard to read.
