Sorry for the big price hike. The price increase will affect all Blue Sea Systems ELCI products including: ELCI Circuit Breakers, ELCI Stock Panels, ELCI Custom Panels and ELCI SMS Enclosures. Carling Technologies announced in December 2023 that they intended to halt production of their GFCI/ELCI HyMag Circuit Breaker Line due to the obsolescence of a critical PC component. In January 2024, Carling reversed that decision and announced that they would redesign the ELCI Circuit Breakers with new components and new pricing. To support the development costs, Carling implemented a substantial price increase effective immediately.

ELCI provides overcurrent and leakage protection per ABYC E-11 for whole boat shore power protection

Designed to meet the requirements of ABYC 11.11 "An Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ELCI) or Type A Residual Current Device (RCD) shall be installed with or in addition to the main shore power disconnect circuit breaker(s) or at the additional overcurrent protection as required by E-11.10.2.8.3 whichever is closer to the shore power connection."
Q:
I currently have no power on my boat, I would like to run shore power for an onboard battery charger. I know very little about electrical components, so I wanted to know if this is similar to a home type panel that once installed, I can run the battery charger to it, and possibly a single GFCI outlet and it will trip a breaker if there are any current issues?

A:
This panel only has a main 30 amp breaker, intended for a 30 amp shore power supply. If you want to connect to a 15 amp receptacle then you need to also have a 15 amp circuit breaker. We have some panels that have both.

A:
If you have AC ground leakage on a boat the leakage current is going through the water and could electrocute anyone nearby. The whole point of this ELCI panel is to prevent this. I wrote a blog post on how to look for the source of your leakage:
