ELCI Panels
These panels are made in response to the ABYC standard 11.11.1 requiring a whole boat shore power interrupting device to limit leakage current to 30 mA. Individual GFI receptacles have a leakage trip current of 5 mA but this would be too strict a standard for a whole boat device. The ABYC standard requires an ELCI to be located within 10 feet (3 meters) of the shore power intake. Another option to meet this standard is to use of the the Surface Mount Panels shown at the bottom of the page.
ABYC 11.11.1 An Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ELCI) or Type A Residual Current Device (RCD) shall be installed with or in addition to the main shore power disconnect circuit breaker(s) or at the additional overcurrent protection as required by E-11.10.2.8.3 whichever is closer to the shore power connection
