Questions & Answers
Like diode battery isolators, FET isolators allow simultaneous charging of two or more batteries from one alternator without connecting the batteries together. So discharging the accessory battery will not result in also discharging the starter battery. This isolator allows simultaneous charging of three battery banks. In contrast with diode battery isolators, FET isolators have virtually no voltage loss. Voltage drop is less than 0,02 Volt at low current and averages 0,1 Volt at higher currents. When using ARGO FET Battery Isolators, there is no need to also increase the output voltage of the alternator. Some alternators require a B+ voltage at a terminal in order to start charging and this isolator has a special dedicated connection for that purpose. Battery isolators may not be the best way to go if you are designing a new system, but if you want to upgrade an existing system and don't wish to do a total rewiring job then using this Argofet low loss isolator is a practical and economical way to go.
For 12 or 24 Volt systems
Maximum charge current 200 Amps
Three independent outputs for three battery banks
Dimensions 2.6" x 4.7" x 7.9"
Five year manufacturer's warranty

Q:
What size are the terminal posts? Rather than a busbar will a common (chasis/frame) ground work as well?
Asked by:
Jerry Jensen
- 1/10/2017
A:
They are M8 (8mm metric)
All the power connections are + Positive and there is no large negative connection.
There are two small connectors for positive and negative to power the internal circuitry. These are just required if you want to use the "excite" feature

Q:
Re your FET battery isolator: I can see the ground terminal but can not tell what type of connection it is, can you advise? Also, do you carry a two battery version at 200 A.
Asked by:
Ken
- 7/25/2018
A:
The isolator has some internal circuitry that is used if you want to make use of the excite feature. That circuitry requires a small 16 or 14 awg positive and negative connector. The isolator is supplied with a pair of crimp on female disconnects which you will use to make that connection

Q:
If the max alternator output is around 65-70- amps which isolator rating would be recommended, the 100 or the 200? A tech advised me to double the output for the isolator. Is this correct?
Asked by:
boater
- 8/23/2015
A:
If you have a 65 amp alternator the 100 amp model is fine. If you have a 95 amp alternator it wouldn't hurt to jump up to the 200 amp model.

Q:
Will these ArgoFet, survive a large transient spike due to BMS/LFP disconnect? Will they protect the alternator diodes too? Size of Alt hot output 100a? or 200a?
