The Cyrix-Li-Ct 120 Amp battery combiner is a microprocessor controlled heavy duty relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel when one battery has reached a preset voltage (indicating that the battery is being charged), and disconnects when the voltage decreases below float level (indicating that one or both batteries are being discharged) When used as part of a control system for a Lithium Ion battery bank, this Cyrix intelligent battery combiner is used to disconnect an auxiliary battery when the main Lithium-Ion battery is getting full. It can be controlled remotely by the Battery Management System. It operates with a time delay to avoid nuisance activity.
For use in systems of 12 or 24 Volts

The Cyrix-Li-Ct will automatically adjust to a 12V or 24V system.
120 Amps continuous rating
The CT in the part number refers to Controlled Temperature. The unit will disconnect if it overheats.
A remote manual override combine button can be installed if required

I notice that you need a bms to work with this device. My plan is to create a battery system using Battleborn LiFePo4 batteries with an AGM starter battery as indicated in your diagram with a 100amp regulated alternator. I have a BMV-712. I was wondering if the relay in the BMV-712 could be used to energize the BMS port appropriately. As a side note... Why doesn't anyone make a bluetooth programmable battery combiner?!? Or atleast a battery combiner that uses voltages that make sense with LiFePo4 batterise?

A:
Yes this needs an "Allow to charge" signal from a BMS.
The voltage of lithium batteries barely changes when they are under charge, that is why conventional ACR's dont work. There is no way to tell from the voltage if the battery is on charge or not.

A:
This is designed to work with batteries that have an external BMS such as the Victron Smart Battery. It is not suitable for use the other brands of Lithium battery that do not have an external BMS. For those you should look at a DC DC Charger.

This is not a general purpose battery combiner, it requires an "allow to charge" input signal from a Lithium Battery BMS (Battery Management System)

A:
All lithium batteries put a big load on alternators because the batteries have a very low internal resistance. What that means is that the alternator will run flat out much of the time. In addition this 120 Amp model Cyrix might be too small if your alternator can produce more than 120 amps. There are a couple of other ways of doing this. One involves using the new Victron BMS which allows you to modify how much power is taken from the house system. The other way around this is by using a DC DC Charger to limit the current flow.

Cyrix-Li-ct
The Cyrix-Li-ct will parallel connect a lead acid starter battery and a LiFePO4 battery when the following conditions are met:
If the Charge Disconnect output of the VE.Bus BMS is high, (meaning the BMS is in "Allow to Charge" mode.)
AND
2. It senses 13,4V (resp. 26,8V) or more on one of its power terminals.
The Cyrix will disengage immediately when the folling conditions apply:
When its control output becomes free floating, (BMS "allow to charge" is OFF)
AND/OR
When battery voltage drops below 13,2V.
The length of time taken for the Cyrix Li-Ct to connect depends on the voltage of the source battery:
Over 13.9 volts - Time is 4 seconds
Between 13.7 and 13.9 volts - Time is 30 seconds
Between 13.4 and 13.7 volts - Time is 120 seconds
For 24 volt systems the voltages are doubled
