Please read the note below before ordering. This is an isolated DC-DC converter intended to give a steady 12.5 Volt DC output when the input voltage varies between 9 and 18 Volts. Both input and output leads are electrically isolated from each other. Use for power conditioning and isolation. Please read the Tech Tip below before ordering.

A: The primary use of this Isolated DC DC Converter is for power conditioning. You can output clean constant voltage power even if the input power is variable or noisy. It is used for sensitive electronics to isolate them from the incoming power supply. The isolation means that the incoming negative is not connected to the outgoing negative and keeps the output particularly clean and free of electrical noise. None of these features are particularly useful in battery to battery charging and you do not need ground isolation for that purpose. For Battery to Battery charging you want the Orion Smart DC DC Charger which will give you much more programming options.

Q: I'm still deciding if I should get the Sterling 60 am alternator charger or this Orion by paralleling 2 30 Orions for 60 amp. Is there an example on how the Orions get parallel to get 60 amps? Also, can the Orion be tied to the Cerbo Gx?

A: For your project you want the Smart DC DC CHARGER, not the converter.

Q: Will this unit turn off when my engine is turned off so it doesn't drain my car batteries? I am connecting it to a goal zero 3000 with a 30amp PWM built in from my car batteries.

Q: I would like to use one of these converters to provide stable power to a 12 volt computer, hard drives, and a monitor. Is there a chart or some other information that shows how much power this device uses? For example, what's the draw if it's input is 12.2 volts and it's outputting 12.5 at 2 amps? How about if the input voltage is 13 volts and the output is 12.5 at 2 amps?
