| Purpose |
| For
charging 12, 24, 36 or 48 volt batteries depending on which model is
selected. The Charger can be powered from 120 or 240 volts, 50 or 60 Hz, so
it can be used worldwide. A power cord
is needed and varies by region, this must be purchased separately. |

| The Smart IP43
Charger is an adaptive, intelligent charger available across all four common
battery voltages: 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V, making it suitable for a wide range
of applications including marine, eMobility, leisure and off-grid, and
industrial. A separate model is required for each battery voltage. |

| Works
with all battery types including Lithium.
The charger is fully programmable and there are presets available for
battery type or you can make it totally custom if required. |

| Communication
and programming |
| The
charger can be monitored and programmed over Bluetooth using the free Victron
Connect App. It can also be connected
to a Cerbo GX using a VE Direct Cable.
This enables it to be shown on the home screen of the Cerbo and
permits remote access over the VRM. |

| Adding
multiple Chargers |
| If there
is more than one charger in the system charging the same battery they can be
networked together over the Bluetooth connection so that their charging is
coordinated. |

| Output
types |
| The 12
and 24 volt models come in two variations, 1+1 output and 3 output. The 1+1 output has one primary output and a
small output for charging a start battery.
The 3 output can charge 3 separate battery banks simultaneously but
all batteries must be the same type, there are not 3 separate programs. The 36 and 48 volt models are single output
only. |

| There is
a 6 stage adaptive algorithm for conventional batteries and a 3 stage
algorithm for lithium batteries |

| Temperature
compensation |
| The
unit can be networked to various temperature sensors over Bluetooth using VE
Wireless Networking. Devices that can
be used include the Smart Battery Sense.
If there is a SmartShunt or BMV 712 battery monitor in the system it
can be fitted with a temp sensor and networked to the MPPT to give actual
battery data. |

| Limitations |
| The
units do not work with DVCC. When used
in a lithium system with externally managed batteries the remote terminal of
the charger can be controlled by the BMS. |

| What
output wires are needed? |
| The
primary output for these models can accommodate 6 awg wire |
|
| Is it
waterproof? |
| Not
really. The electronics are IP43 but
the connection area is only IP22 |
|
| Are
there ports for add-ons and external equipment |
The
units have a VE Direct Port which can be used to connect to a GX device such
as a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX. They also
have a relay port and a remote control port.
As mentioned previously temperature information is passed over
Bluetooth
|
| What
circuit protection is needed? |
| The
unit is designed to plug in to a standard AC receptacle with would have its
own circuit protection. The DC charger
needs circuit protection where it connects to the battery. This circuit protection needs to be as
close to the battery as possible and should be one or two sizes larger than the rated output of the
charger. A 30 amp charger would get a
40 amp fuse or breaker. |

| Installation |
| Identify/provide
a suitable and safe location for the charger on a non-flammable substrate,
with at least 10cm of clearance surrounding the charger and good natural
airflow/ventilation; do not install or place/operate the charger on top of
the battery, directly above the battery, or in a sealed compartment with the
battery. Mount the Smart IP43 Charger vertically with the terminals facing
down; secure using suitable pan/flange head screws though the mounting
holes/slots. Connect the Smart IP43
Charger AC power cable to a mains power outlet; after a short delay all LEDs
will illuminate briefly, then the LEDs indicating the current charge mode and
charge state will illuminate. |

| Do these
chargers make noise? |
| These
units have silent operation since there is no cooling fan, cooling is via
natural convection; full rated output current is still provided up to an
ambient temperature of 40°C. |
|
| Is the
unit waterproof? |
| Not
really. The electronics are IP43 but
the terminal area is IP22. |
|
| Can it
be programmed for different types of batteries? |
| Yes it
is user programmable, there are presets for different types of batteries our
you can so totally custom programming. |
|
| Recovery function |
| The
charger will attempt to recharge a severely discharged battery (even down to
0V) with low current and then resume normal charging once the battery voltage
has risen sufficiently; many other chargers will not recognize a battery in
this state. |
|
| Power
Supply Mode |
| This is
a specific mode to use the charger as
a DC power supply; to power equipment at a constant voltage with or without a
battery connected. |
