Alternators
We finally got around to taking pictures of a small and large case alternator side by side. The small case alternator in the picture is a Balmar 621-100-SV alternator. This is a single foot alternator fitted with a single V Pulley. The large case alternator beside it is the Balmar 94-12-21-IG fitted with a K6 serpentine pulley. Large case alternators are more powerful, more robust and get mounted on larger engines where they are better able to withstand the vibrations that sometimes go along with these engines.
This last photo shows a typical small case alternator mounted on an engine.
