Victron Tech note about Compatibility IDs for Inverter/Chargers
This is about Compatibility IDs for Victron Inverter/Chargers when multiple units are set up for parallel operation.  If you don't have multiple units in parallel this doesn't concern you. Below is a summary of the technical notification.  For a full copy please contact us and mention ticket id #232305.

A new Comp ID (Compatibility ID) format has been introduced to ensure units operate correctly when connected in parallel on the same phase. The incompatibility of units with a different Comp ID relates to a transition to a new generation of transformer technology. Once this transition is fully behind us, there should be much fewer Comp ID changes going forward.   Compatibility is only relevant for multiple units in parallel operation! Meaning; there is no issue with multiple units with different Comp IDs operating on different phases.

When is it relevant?

1. For existing parallel set-ups where a unit fails, and the replacement unit (standard RMA process) has a different Comp ID.
2. For existing setups that are being expanded, and the additional unit has a different Comp ID.

What to do if there is an incompatibility?

The paper goes into details of how to resolve an incompatibility.

What Comp ID is currently shipping?

In some situations, advance knowledge of the Comp ID being shipped from our warehouses is beneficial, for example during system expansion. Distributors are able to look this information up if requested.
