This is a pilot project in Maine intended to make fish farming more ecological. The idea is to power the workboats that service the fish farms from solar charging stations, some of which might eventually be located on floating platforms. This prototype includes a Cerbo GX and is using the Victron VRM to gather data on solar production and battery use statistics.
The installation was designed by Don Ely, built by Hylan and Brown Boatbuilders of Brooklin ME, and sponsored by the Island Institute with Victron equipment sourced from PKYS
This prototype installation includes two Victron Smart Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries 25,6V/200Ah. The battery management system is the VE Bus BMS. The solar charger is a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/45 and they are using a MultiPlus-II 24/3000/70-50 120V Communication is handled by a Cerbo-S GX and because phone signal can be spotty in this area it is fitted with a Micro SD card to save data for occasional upload to the Victron VRM Battery monitoring is done by the BMV 712 Battery Monitor and for solar there are two Renogy RSP200D monocrystalline panels.
