Victron have adopted a page out of the Apple playbook and made a big announcement of new products recently in Amsterdam at the Mets 2019 expo. They have upped their game this year with the addition of a splashy video to showcase the abilities of the new Cerbo GX. Read about our first impressions in the following blog post.......

The Victron VE Configure documentation has been redrafted. It contains additional detail, and a new section about how to use the “Ignoring AC Input with Virtual Switch” feature. Video examples are now embedded within the manual to help with some of the more complex procedures; and you can copy a link to Sections of the manual – making it easier to share specific parts of the document.
New Victron Color Control GX Manual released

The new Victron Color Control GX manual released in July 2019 has additional information about the Distributed Voltage and Current Control feature. The new text explains what effects enabling DVCC will have on the battery charge algorithm, and how the system is modified by DVCC in a variety of configurations – including ESS.

As many of you know, on November 10, 2018, a fire broke out at the Blue Sea Systems Bellingham, WA facility resulting in a total loss of the building including the production area, office space, product, assembly fixtures and test equipment. Since then, a lot of work has been done to aid in the recovery plan. Read an update of the progress that has been made.

A galvanic isolator is a device used to block low voltage DC currents coming on board your boat on the shore power ground wire. These currents could cause corrosion to your underwater metals; through hulls, propeller, shaft etc.

Galvanic isolators are a bit difficult to test. Current ABYC standards require that galvanic isolators be self testing. For testing older isolators without this feature there are a number of methods that can be used, the one that follows is one that I found most useful.

Victron recently released firmware update v1.37 for their SmartSolar Chargers. This fix is especially important for all 150V and 250V SmartSolar Charger models. The BlueSolar Charger range is not affected. The new v1.37 firmware fixes a problem that can, in certain cases, cause the device to fail.
