Does this model have engine running detection so that it will shut off when the vehicle isn't running so that it doesn't kill the starting battery?

A:
This is a very programmable device and that is one of the parameters you can program. To experiment you can download the Victron connect program from the app store and then play around with the settings in demo mode.

The 12/12-30 has 12 volt input 12 volt output The 24/12-30 has 24 volt input and 12 volt output

Are the Orion Smart Chargers a good choice to connect RV lithium house batteries to the low current alternator charge pin on a tow vehicle for the purpose of obtaining the correct charge voltage for the lithium batteries?

A:
When the lithium batteries are in a vehicle being towed I think an isolated DC DC Charger is more appropriate. It is such a long run from the start battery to the lithium battery that there will be quite a bit of voltage drop. You wont really be able to say that the two batteries are sharing the same negative as a result. The charger should go next to the lithium battery so there is minimal voltage drop between them. Then the charger will be able to compensate for any voltage drop on the long route from the start battery.

The Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger is a professional DC to DC adaptive 3-stage charger with built-in Bluetooth. In the comparison table below you will see there is almost no difference between the Isolated and Non-Isolated ones. The Isolated model is used for power conditioning as it isolates the destination from interference on the ground wire and it also is used in metal boats where isolation is part of the corrosion protection system. For most applications the Non-Isolated model is all that is required.
These mostly get used in dual battery systems in boats and RV's where the alternator and start battery are used to charge the service battery. The unit can be monitored and programmed via Bluetooth and can be remotely controlled via a remote on/off switch.
This Orion Tr-Smart charger is used in 12V systems and is suitable for both lead acid and lithium batteries. Unlimited multiple units can be connected in parallel to increase output power. Suitable for high temperatures up to 55°C with a full rated output up to 40°C.
