The isolation transformer eliminates any electrical continuity between AC shore power and the vessel. It is essential for safety and eliminates the need for galvanic isolators and polarity alarms.  Because its a transformer it can also change the voltage. This can be a step up, step down, or same voltage transformer



Tech Tip

This autodetect transformer will only turn on if the voltage is within the allowed range.  This can be a bit of a nuisance sometimes, for example for 120 volt US shore power once the voltage reaches 130 volts the transformer will no longer work.  You would be surprised how often this happens, especially in winter time when there aren't so many boats being used
