This meter keeps track of current flowing in and out of a battery bank and uses a sophisticated algorithm to read out the state of charge of the battery in Percentage Remaining and Amp Hours Remaining. It also displays Volts and Amps, time to go, and Consumed Energy and keeps track of Historic Data including Battery Efficiency, Average Discharge, Deepest Discharge, Number of Cycles, Overvoltage, and Undervoltage Alarms.

Q: I am installing a 3000w inverter in my boat with 3 #27 deep cell batteries 1 for starting and 2 for the house. What is your recommendation on a battery monitor for my application? the house will be 1 bank and the starting will be another bank. I really like the Bluetooth amenity . Is there a better way to go do i need to give up the Bluetooth to get a good monitor to handle all 3 batteries?? Cost is always a factor as well.

A: The BMV 712 can monitor everything about your house battery, amps, volts, amp hours, amount consumed, percentage charge and time remaining. It can also monitor the voltage (only) of your start battery. You really dont need all that detail for the start battery, you just need to know if it is charged and if the voltage goes up when the engine is running. Reading the voltage is all you need to do that. So I think the BMV 712 will be ideal for your application.

Q: What is the physical size of the unit, Hole size, Bezel diameter?

Q: Does a Victron BMV 712 monitor come with a shunt or do I have to order it separately?

Q: I have 2 6v batteries series wired on my RV. Can I mount the shunt inside the battery box next to the negative terminal or does it need some additional protection?
