Description

Alternator temperature sensor for use with Max Charge or ARS5 regulators or with the Balmar Duo Charge.

The alternator temperature sensor is designed to prevent the alternator exceeding its rated temperature of  105 deg C, (Approx 210 deg F)  When used with the Max Charge and ARS5 regulators the output of the alternator is reduced until the temperature has returned within the parameters.

The alternator temperature sensor is a semiconductor device and is designed to bolt on to one of the case mounting bolts of the alternator. The wire length provided is the same length as the standard wire harness that comes with the regulator so that it can be incorporated into this harness.

The use of an alternator temperature sensor is recommended for any system where extended high output operation is expected, an example being any especially large battery bank, particularly one of AGM batteries.

  • Simple two wire hookup
  • Bolts on to alternator case
  • 52" wire length to match standard regulator wire harness
  • Especially recommended when extended high output operation is intended.

Tech Tip

This won't fit on an Arco alternator. If you are using a Balmar regulator and an Arco alternator you have to improvise.   Arco alternators have a bigger screw than will fit through the hole of this temp sensor.  You have to use the Balmar Battery Temp sensor MC-TS-B instead.  Its the same sensor but with a bigger hole.  The cable will be too long and you can shorten it.
