This alternator is an XT-170 variant for the new Yanmar Common Rail Engines The radial B+ post on the standard XT-170 interferes with the heat exchanger manifold on Common Rail engines, so Balmar have introduced this version with an axial post.  It comes with a J10 pulley and is for use in conjunction with a Balmar pulley kit.

  • Externally regulated high output small case alternator 
  • 12 volt output at 170 Amps, 
  • Dual foot 3.15" ID Yanmar style mount. 
  • This is not an isolated ground alternator
  • K6 pulley for a 6 groove serpentine belt
  • Built-in backup regulator
The Max Charge regulator is required but not included.  The alternator is also available in a kit complete with the regulator and temperature sensors and it is more economical to purchase it that way.
In the photo below the alternator on the left is for the Common Rail engine and you can see there is a gap between the back of the pulley and the alternator. The one on the right is the standard XT alternator and there is no gap between the alternator and the pulley.


Below the photo shows the two output terminals. The standard one is on the left and the Common Rail one is on the right and is about 5mm shorter.
