This was a very good refresh and clarification program on batteries. But I have a question. I have just purchased a 1991 Cape Dory 28 Power Cruiser. The manufacturer laid out a good basic system in the ships manual. However, owners since new have done their best to cause me to rework the electrical system for the next year. My intent is to remove the 1992 Panda Generator (non-working and when it did-not well) and replace that with 4 6V 230 AH golf cart batteries for the house and a group 31 for the starter battery, and a with a 200 watt solar panel and controller. My intent is to wire a pair of 6 volt batteries in series to produce 12V, and then parallel the two paired pairs to produce a high amperage house bank set. Finally adding a combiner on the non switched side. Does this method meed ABYC standards? If not, could you give me guidance or product recommendations?
