Victron Error Codes

This is an updated version of our earlier blog post written back in 2017

VICTRON TOOLKIT APP

The Victron Toolkit App can be downloaded from the Apple or Android app store and provides an explanation of all flashing light error codes for inverters, inverter/chargers. and MPPT's.   Open the App find the section for your device, and select the lights that are on or flashing to get an explanation.

VE BUS ERROR CODES LIST

These are covered in the Victron document VE BUS Error Codes  A summary is below but you should refer to the main document for the details and advice on what to do.

Error 1 - Device is switched off because one of the other phases in the system has switched off
Error 2 - New and old type MK2 protocol mixed in the system
Error 3 - Not all, or more than, the expected devices were found in the system
Error 4 - No other device found
Error 5 - Overvoltage on AC out
Error 6 - Error in DDC Program
Error 7 - External device connected, assistant required
Error 8 - Ground relay test failed
Error 10 - System time synchronisation problem
Error 11 - Relay Test Fault - Installation error or possibly relay failure
Error 12 - Config mismatch with 2nd mcu
Error 14 - Device cannot transmit data
Error 15 - VE.Bus combination error
Error 16 - VE.Bus dongle is missing
Error 17 - Phase master missing
Error 18 - AC Over-voltage on the output of a slave while switched off
Error 19 - Slave does not have AC input!
Error 20 - Configuration mismatch
Error 22 - This device cannot function as a slave
Error 24 - Switch-over system protection initiated
Error 25 - Incompatible VE.Bus configuration
Error 26 - Internal error
Error 30 and 31 - Ghost errors
Error 128 - Connect prevented by failing relay test

MPPT SOLAR CHARGER ERROR CODES

These are covered in depth in the MPPT SOLAR CHARGER ERROR CODES document.  Please refer to it for a detailed explanation.  What follows below is a summary.

Error 1 - Battery temperature too high
Error 2 - Battery voltage too high
Error 3 or 4 - Remote temperature sensor failure
Error 5 - Remote temperature sensor failure (connection lost)
Error 6 and 7 - Remote battery voltage sense failure
Error 8 - Remote battery voltage sense failure (connection lost)
Error 11 - Battery high ripple voltage
Error 14 - Battery low temperature
Error 17 - Controller overheated despite reduced output current
Error 18 - Controller over-current
Error 20 - Maximum Bulk-time exceeded
Error 21 - Current sensor issue
Error 22 and Err 23 - Internal temperature sensor failure
Error 24 - Fan failure
Error 26 - Terminal overheated
Error 27 - Charger short circuit
Error 28 - Power stage issue
Error 29 - Over-Charge protection
Error 33 - PV over-voltage
Error 34 - PV over-current
Error 35 - PV over-power
Error 38 or 39 and Error 80 to 87 - PV Input shutdown
Error 40 - PV Input failed to shutdown
Error 41 - Inverter shutdown (PV isolation)
Error 42 - Inverter shutdown (PV isolation)
Error 43 - Inverter shutdown (Ground Fault)
Error 50 and 52 - Inverter overload, Inverter peak current
Error 51 - Inverter temperature too high
Error 53 - Inverter output voltage
Error 54 - Inverter output voltage
Error 55, 56, and 58 - Inverter self test failed
Error 59 - ACIN1 relay test fault
Information 65 - Communication warning
Information 66 - Incompatible device
Error 67 - BMS Connection lost
Error 68 - Network misconfigured
Error 69 - Network misconfigured
Error 70 - Network misconfigured
Error 71 - Network misconfigured
Error 72 - Phase rotation
Error 73 - Multiple AC inputs
Error 74 - Phase overload
Error 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86 and 87 - PV Input shutdown
Error 114 - CPU temperature too high
Error 116 - Calibration data lost
Error 117 - Incompatible firmware
Error 119 - Settings data lost
Error 121 - Tester fail
Error 200 - Internal DC voltage error
Error 201 - Internal DC voltage error
Error 202 - Internal GFCI sensor error
Err 203, 205, 212, 215 - Internal supply voltage error
