There are currently two versions of the Lynx BMS in production, the Lynx Smart BMS 1000 (M10) and the Lynx Smart BMS 500 (M8) The M8 and M10 refer to the diameters of the studs used to connect to other Lynx devices. M8 means there is an 8 mm stud, and M10 means there is a 10 mm stud. Since the two studs are not compatible there has to be two different versions of other related products like the Lynx Distributor, an M8 version and an M10 version.
How did we get into this mess and what is the end game? Initially all the devices had M8 terminals, and eventually all the devices will have M10 terminals. Its just a temporary thing where we are stuck with two different versions. What happened is that when the made the 1000 amp version of the BMS they found that the M8 terminals were too small for the current and they had to make it M10. The end game is that the new BMS NG (New Generation) will be all M10 and in a year or two all this confusion will be forgotten.
